all yesterday parties (2022)
all yesterday parties-photobook (2022)
The artist moved to London at the end of January 2022 for a study abroad program knowing no one in this country. Soon after she arrived, she decided to shoot, develop, and scan one roll of color film every week, and each roll must have 1-2 new friends she had just met this week. By setting this rule for herself, she was using photography as a social tool and using socialization as a practice, she was also thinking about the idea of subculture study and human grouping behavior. The artist kept the promise to herself and returned 5 months later with 21 rolls of film. After making a photo book of these photos, the artist decided to turn this project into a rather experimental piece to eliminate the sense of archive from a regular photo book.
The artist then image-transferred some photos onto onion skins and stitched them together, she considers onion skin as globe/traveling, cut to tears, stickiness, and fragility that speaks to her past 2 years of constant reconstructions of human relationships and relocations.
